Whether it’s on a rooftop, on a yacht, or in a luxe hotel suite holding a glass of bubbles, here are five ways to spend this New Year’s Eve like an absolute rock star.
Let’s be honest, many of us will be quite pleased indeed to see the end of 2020 and to welcome in all the excitement and fresh possibilities that the new year holds. With that in mind, we’re planning on making this New Year’s Eve one to truly remember. No matter the party mode you plan on getting into – and whether it’s a zero or hero effort – we have you covered with these five ideas for how to ring in 2021 in absolute style.
1. High tail it to a rooftop pool bar
The rooftop pool bar at Nineteen at The Star on the Gold Coast has some serious sass to it. With epic views of the Gold Coast skyline and a luxe rooftop location, this is one location that cannot be beaten when it comes to New Year’s Eve.
If you can’t picture yourself anywhere but here to bring in 2021, then book yourself into one of the multi-course dinners on offer. There’s a sunset seating and six courses being offered at 6pm, or a moonlight seating and seven courses at 8.30pm.
2. Jump on board a yacht on Sydney Harbour
The best seat in the house in Sydney is quite literally from on top of the harbour when the NYE fireworks make the city stop. While this year’s fireworks will be turned down a notch, they will still be as special as ever. So, book yourself a spot on one of the yachts, cruises or catamarans departing from Darling Harbour. It’s just a short walk from The Star Sydney, meaning you can have pre drinks in your room while getting ready before hitting the town.
3. Hop in a bubble bath with a glass of fizz
In complete contrast to all the sparkle and glamour of a night out in Sydney, why not throw the towel in (literally…) and opt to stay in, instead. Book a beautiful room at The Darling or The Star Grand with your loved one, and when the clock strikes 12 – if you manage to stay up that late – then cheers each other with the most expensive bottle of sparkling that you can afford.
4. Dine like a king or queen courtesy of Luke Nguyen
If you’d prefer to do all your celebrating complete with the finest food at a table surrounded by your closest friends or family, then you’re in good company. At The Star HQ, we love nothing more than celebrating over a decadent meal and a bottle of fine wine. On our list is the New Year’s Eve banquet from celebrity chef Luke Nguyen at Fat Noodle at Treasury Brisbane. The banquet menu includes tom yum lobster soup, caramelised pork belly and Luke’s Vietnamese chicken salad.

5. Sip cocktails at a chic bar
If you’re a drinks-only kind of NYE partygoer, then save the feast and secure your spot at one of the hottest venues in the country to ring in 2021. Our pick? The $50 ticket to Nineteen at The Star’s uber-glam bar where we’ll be ordering Aperol spritz’ all night long. Pictures courtesy of Tanika Blair and The Star Entertainment Group.
