How To Do Easter 2021 The Adult Way

It’s a time for pure indulgence, so swap the Easter egg hunts for a super-chic, adult-style Easter in 2021 filled with moreish chocolatey cocktails, decadent desserts and more.

Whoever said Easter was only a time for children to enjoy Easter egg hunts and games was out of their minds, in our opinion. We’re putting the Easter bunnies on hold this year in favour of a more refined, adult-friendly Easter with ideas for how to spend your Easter long weekend in true indulgence.

1. Have yourself some high tea

High tea is having a serious makeover this Easter. High tail it to The Lab at Treasury Brisbane, where you can pile up your pretty plate with delicious goodies including macarons, home-made hot cross buns, pastries, gourmet ribbon sandwiches, cute-as-a-button petite quiches and decadent chocolatey cups. Bottomless cups of La Maison Du Thé French handcrafted tea will also be served, or you could make your event super grown up by ordering the Chandon sparkling wine package. Mmm.

When it’s on: This chocolate-inspired high tea takes place at Treasury Brisbane on Easter Saturday, April 3, and Easter Sunday, April 4, from 1-4pm.

2. Book an adults-only weekend away

For many of us, Easter 2021 cannot come soon enough – let’s be honest, we all need a break, at the very least to celebrate that whatever the past year has thrown at us, somehow, we’re still smiling. Take this as your excuse to book yourself an adults-only Easter stay-cay on the glorious Gold Coast complete with breakfast in bed via room service.

What to book: Check out The Star Gold Coast’s autumn star-cation packages to find the hotel experience that’s perfect for you and yours truly.

3. Sip chocolate cocktails all night long

What makes an Easter truly adult-friendly? Cocktails… and lots of them. The good news is, you can drink chocolate cocktails (yes, you read right!) all night long this Easter 2021 at The Star Gold Coast – well, as long as possible given these babies will be as lavish as they come.

When it’s on: The Star Gold Coast is serving up chocolate-inspired cocktails for four days over the Easter break, from April 2-5.

4. Swap the Easter hunt for a foodie crawl

Surprise your partner with your own version of an Easter egg hunt: the 2021 Easter food crawl. Map out a plan involving autumnal afternoon cocktails (with a chocolate-inspired cocktail a must), a three-course dinner with chocolate for dessert and post-dinner drinks at a rooftop bar. Give clues throughout the foodie crawl so your partner can guess where you’re heading next.

What to book: Start your Easter 2021 food crawl at one of The Star’s alfresco bars, such as Garden Kitchen & Bar on the Gold Coast or Bar Tikram in Sydney, to enjoy the last of the warmer weather.

5. Eat chocolatey desserts all weekend long

Indulgence is key at Easter time so give yourself permission to unleash your sweet tooth on a chocolate dessert. The Star Sydney is partnering with Valrhona Chocolate, which means its best restaurants are featuring this delicious brand of chocolate in their desserts. BLACK Bar & Grill is serving up an out-there chocolate ball you have to see to believe; Flying Fish will serve up a chocolate cremeux with cherry and hazelnut ice cream; and Cucina Porto has a tasting dessert board starring Valrhona Chocolate.

What to book: Be quick to book your venue of choice at The Star – you won’t want to miss these epic dishes while Easter 2021 is still your excuse to go all out.

6. Gorge yourself silly on Easter seafood

If Easter is a time for chocolate, it’s just as much a time for seafood. There are so many ways with seafood at Easter, from barbecued prawns to lobster mornay, so there’s no shortage of amazing recipes out there. Or, better yet, give cooking the flick this Easter 2021 and head to Sydney’s Flying Fish to try the most decadent lobster you ever did see.

What to book: Reserve your table for an Easter seafood extravaganza at Flying Fish.
